How Much is that Performance Art in the Window? (Garment District, Manhattan)
Grazia Capri takes the stage in the storefront art gallery known as ChaShaMa on 37th Street in the Garment District. About five us stood in the rain to watch her performance through the window. She retained sharp focus, staring toward us but through us, as she moved through the precise steps of a solo performance she calls "Corpi in Vertigine#2".

Saw these two content cats in on 6th Avenue in the 20s. Night was falling, the store was closed, the streets were filled with activity, and these two fellas couldn't have cared less.

The Wonder of Neon (the Loop, Chicago)
They don't make old timey neon signs like this any more, do they? I think neon is magical. Not only is it beautiful but the idea that it's made from gas--and an element among an elite group that has earned the moniker "noble"--makes it extra thrilling. I suppose it's only fitting that this old-time sign promote the wares of a business that itself has changed dramatically. Nothing underscores the obsolescence of cameras more than the fact that I took this photo with my phone.

But This Sign, Get Free Building (Grinnell, Iowa)

Dairy Queen's cookie-cutter cheeriness seems, on the surface, incongruous with the desolation of the vacant interior, empty lot and cracked sidewalk. But then maybe not. At least the humorous appeal for a buyer reminded me that franchises aren't the products of just big corporations but individual people.
