A Lively Offering for the Day of the Dead (Mission District, San Francisco)
Although it was a few days after El Dia de Los Muertos when I encountered these marigolds on 24th Street in the Mission District, they were still as vibrant as ever.

Turning Their Backs to the World (Flower District)

Saw these two content cats in on 6th Avenue in the 20s. Night was falling, the store was closed, the streets were filled with activity, and these two fellas couldn't have cared less.

Butterfly in Central Park (Manhattan)
Central Park is full of surprises--paths that seem to appear from nowhere, terrain as diverse as a nation's, ponds that (if you use your hand to block the surrounding buildings from view) evoke a rural idyll. This little patch of wildflowers was just one of those surprises. But obviously I'm not the only one to have discovered it. This swallowtail joined me in admiring the beauty.

Flowers & Tube Socks (Upper West Side, Manhattan)
You know it's spring in New York when the trees start blooming and the street fair vendors start selling tube socks.

Ditmas Park, Brooklyn
The Brooklyn sky, as seen from the garden of The Farm on Adderley, a restaurant on Cortelyou Road.
The houses in Ditmas Park are sooo cool, especially their roofs, including ones with fake Canadian geese grazing on the shingles.
The crumbling cornices reminded me that a home can be a pain to maintain.
What do dahlias and beer have in common? Sycamore Bar & Flowershop, also on Cortelyou Road.
